About Us

Restio was started in Cape Town by three friends with an eye for detail and a shared love of beautiful, functional furniture. We design and make every piece ourselves, locally, working in sustainable metal and timber chosen to last, not to cost the earth.

Each collection is named for the landscapes that shape our thinking, and each piece is made in small runs, finished by hand. We're less interested in trends than in longevity — furniture with a story, in materials that age with grace, built by people who understand that craftsmanship speaks of time and skill.

Our Values

Quality above all

What we make carries the care that went into it. Every joint, finish, and proportion is considered. There are no shortcuts, only intention.

Sustainable, high quality materials

We create furniture that earns its place over time, pieces that remain relevant, durable, and considered for years to come.

Beautiful, and genuinely comfortable

We design every piece for the body as much as the eye. Comfort matters to us as much as looks.

Rooted in South Africa

Inspired by the resilience and elegance of the restio plant, we are proudly South African. Our pieces are handmade in Cape Town where, as a small business, we enjoy engaging closely with our clients, collaborators, and others in the industry.

Warranty, Care &
General Info

Built to Last

Every Restio piece is handcrafted using carefully selected materials and built to provide years of enjoyment. We warrant our furniture against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use from the date of purchase.

Warranty Coverage

  • Structural frames & joinery: 3 Years

  • Steel frames: 2 Years

  • Powder-coated finishes: 2 Years

This warranty covers manufacturing defects and structural failures resulting from faulty materials or workmanship.

Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Scratches, dents, stains or accidental damage.

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper cleaning or incorrect assembly.

  • Commercial use unless agreed in writing.

  • Natural variations in timber and other natural materials, including grain, colour, texture, and knots.

  • Natural movement of solid timber, including minor expansion, contraction or hairline cracks.

  • Fading, weathering or corrosion caused by environmental exposure or lack of maintenance.

Coastal Environments

Furniture located within approximately 5 km of the ocean is exposed to salt-laden air that accelerates corrosion and finish deterioration.

To maintain warranty coverage, furniture must be cleaned regularly with fresh water, salt deposits should be removed frequently, and products should not be left in standing water or permanently exposed to harsh weather conditions.

Corrosion, oxidation, tea staining or finish deterioration resulting from coastal conditions or inadequate maintenance is considered environmental wear and is not covered under warranty.

Care

To maximise the lifespan of your furniture:

  • Wipe spills immediately.

  • Clean regularly using a soft cloth and warm water.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.

  • Protect surfaces from excessive heat and prolonged moisture.

  • Use protective pads under decorative items.

Warranty Claims

If you believe your furniture has a manufacturing defect, please contact Restio at info@restiostudio.co.za within 7 days of receiving your order with your proof of purchase, order number, photographs, and a description of the issue.

Where a valid warranty claim is approved, Restio may repair, replace or refund the affected product or component at its discretion.

General

As many Restio pieces are handcrafted, slight variations in colour, texture and dimensions (up to ±10 mm) are normal and contribute to the character of each piece.

Furniture remains the property of Restio until paid for in full.
